On December 1st the 2012 National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders’ (NALCAB) national conference, Building a Better Economy for All Americans: Desarrollando Destinos Economicos, will feature U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan as a Keynote Speaker. The Resurrection Project is proud to announce that our Chief Executive Officer, Raul I Raymundo, will introduce the distinguished keynote speaker tomorrow at 1:45pm EST at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington D.C.
The Resurrection Project is a proud affiliate of NALCAB – a national organization that represents and serves a geographically and ethnically diverse group of non-profit community development and asset building organizations that serve as anchor institutions within our Latino communities. The Resurrection Project (as well as other NALCAB affiliates) implements responsible, market-based strategies for creating jobs, developing neighborhood assets, and building family wealth. These strategies include affordable housing developers, micro lenders, economic development corporations, and consumer counseling agencies.
Mr. Shaun Donovan was sworn in as the 15th United States Secretary for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and is responsible for managing a $48.5 billion budget. His tenure as HUD Secretary has reflected his commitment to making quality housing possible for every American. Donovan was sworn in at a time when the foreclosure crisis had devastated American families. Under Secretary Donovan’s leadership, HUD, with the assistance of grassroots organizations and their networks, (like The Resurrection Project), has helped stabilize the housing market and has worked to keep responsible families in their homes.
Some of the critical issues NALCAB’s 2012 conference will touch upon include Economic Development in an Anti-immigrant Environment, Competing with Predatory Practices, Earned Revenue Strategies and Social Enterprise and Pathways to Wealth Building: From Financial Education to the Middle Class.
