TRP Leaders in Washington, D.C.

TRP Leaders in Washington, D.C.

Since launching our immigrant rights initiative in 2000, TRP has:

  • Educated dozens of elected officials on the need to expand immigrant rights
  • Engaged our leaders in local, statewide, national and international debates of immigration
  • Registered hundreds of people to vote, and pledge to vote to move forward immigration reform
  • Advocated for the development of a low interest loan, in partnership with our local banks, to assist undocumented students in attending college
  • Worked with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights to change state policy to allow undocumented immigrant youth to pay in-state tuition through passage of HB 0060

  • Hosted 24 immigration workshops reaching more than 2000 applicants annually

TRP remains committed to national comprehensive immigration reform.  Most recently, a group of TRP leaders took a trip to Washington, D.C. to ask their representatives to support immigration reform legislation.  With the current debate on hold, leaders will be training leaders to educate community members on their rights.  For more information or to get involved, contact Fernando at (312) 850-1935 ext. 107.
