Saving Homes in Your Community:The Resurrection Project Now in Melrose Park
Recently The Resurrection Project has seen an influx of new clients, many of whom have been referred by a friend or relative who were able to save their homes with our help. Families come from all around Chicagoland, but lately we have seen an increase in suburban families looking for assistance in saving their homes from foreclosure.

In 2008 alone, a year notorious for skyrocketing foreclosure rates in Chicago and across the nation, TRP was able to help families save over 50 homes, preserving an approximate $11.09 million in mortgage principal from being lost to the banks. As the amount of foreclosures continues to increase during the course of 2009, TRP recognizes how imperative it is to continue to offer more opportunities for financial counseling and services for Chicagoland families who might find it difficult to come into the City just to get services.
TRP has partnered with strong ally Our Lady of Mount St. Carmel Parish in Melrose Park to install a financial services satellite office in their community room.
Tav Machado, a local reporter for Melrose Park’s newspaper Ultimas Noticias describes the town and its surrounding community’s situation as more than just the loss of property. “We are living in tough times. Homes are being lost and with them a very important asset in the development of our human relationships. Home is the place where in family we share sweet and sour times. The house, in a deeper sense, is what makes you realize that warm concept of home”
“Considering the increasing percentage of the population committing more than 30% of their income a month to pay a mortgage, the real concern arises when right now Melrose Park and suburban communities have residents who commit more than half of their monthly income to housing related costs,” observed Jose Segura, TRP’s Project Manager in Melrose Park.
