Over 600 Families Attended Chicago's Home Rescue Fair

On Saturday March 14, 640 Chicagoland families gathered at Orozco Community Academy to take advantage of the free services available to those at risk of losing their home to foreclosure during the Chicago Home Rescue Fair.

The Resurrection Project, in partnership with local partners the Chicago Urban League and the Korean American Resource and Cultural Center, and national partners National Council of La Raza, the National Urban League, and National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development, organized this event in response to the national foreclosure crisis.

At this event, families had access to HUD certified housing counselors, loan specialists, and attorneys that provided extensive on-site counseling services, advising on the best options available for the homeowners, and in many cases, were able to keep people in their homes by modifying their loan to more affordable terms.

Univision and other national and local media outlets were present covering the event: “You have to be here to realize the impact this crisis is having in all communities,” said a local Pilsen community resident arriving to receive services.

The Chicago Home Rescue Fair was the first of 40 fairs taking place in 27 communities throughout the country which are expected to serve more than 11,000 households, helping to keep families in their homes or find the best options for them.
